Welcome to the Marketplace!
Population: You.

Here to make some profit? sell that leather jacket your e-gf left before dumping you for that guy in NX? or maybe you're just looking for a sweet deal on a rare or two. Either way, reason or motivation; the Marketplace (MP) is a surefire way to get your foot into the trading world. Convenient, simple and worthwhile to those who can navigate around it, this trading tool is going to enable you to rise to the top before those hoarded items drop.

As your guide to the one-stop furni shop, I want to help you out and make sure you can navigate around this system like the good deal hunter you are. First things first,  I need to make sure you're actually eligible to use the MP in all of its praisable glory. Go down the checklist and make sure the following applies to you, if it does, then we can set sail to the next area of exploration.

Eligibility checklist:

- Trading Pass If you do not have this you can get it by completing the first steps of the Talent Track. To make finding the Talent Track easier I have highlighted and included a picture. First click the Habbo avatar icon, then the 'Talents' icon which will pop up after.

All done? Great! If you've met the eligibility criteria then you're ready to move on to the navigation phase. So buckle up, cowboy, because we've got quite a lot to get through.

Firstly I will show you how to put furni into the Marketplace from your inventory. The inventory is the button behind the first click on the picture above, right next to your avatar's face. If you open that it will bring you to your inventory, this will show you a couple of tabs: Furniture, Rentables, Pets, Achieved Badges and Bots. At the moment we are only going to be focusing on the Furniture tab, the rest won't help you in terms of the Marketplace!

Here I have made a detailed picture of steps to posting furniture into the MP:

Step 1: Select the item of furni you wish to post into the Marketplace by clicking on its icon in the left section. (NOTE: You will only ever place one item of furni in the MP at one time, so if you wish to sell more of one furni item you should repeat this entire process until you have entered the desired amount). You have two numbers: The one beside the pair of hands indicates how many of this particular item you have in your inventory. The second number which is currently irrelevant, beside the recycle symbol, is how many of these items can be recycled. (At one stage Habbo had an ecotron or furni-matic which allowed you to recycle 5 furni in exchange for one from the machine. RIP!). Next, you want to hit the Sell in Marketplace button.

Step 2: Woo! We are now well on our way to making our first furni post. I have highlighted Asking price because this is super important! The Asking price is how much you wish to sell your furni for. In this case, I have put 3, which is the average minus commission. Don't let this hurt your head! Commission is easy. Commission is a small added cost paid on each furni you post (NOTE: The Commission is NOT paid by the seller, it is paid by the buyer). This is almost like paying to have your furni advertised and then sold on your behalf through the MP. So if I sell my Tiki Lei successfully, I will receive 3 coins, even though the final price says 4.

Next, you want to press Post item to continue on!

Step 3: Read this Confirmation notice thoroughly! You need to make sure that you have put the correct price before posting your furni offer. If you accidentally miss a 0, or any other additional number, you may find your furni has been snagged for a quarter of the cost because you forgot to double check the selling price. (For example: If a furni is averaging 300 credits and you put it in for 30, missing the last 0, someone may buy it before you even notice. That's a potential 270 credit loss!)

The cancel button is there to rescue you if you want to retract the offer before it's even posted. Make sure you use it if you're not sure on the price or you want to hold onto your items for a bit longer!

Step 4: Congratulations! You've posted your first item. Easy, huh?

Now that you've got the entering process down pat, lets move on to the My Sales tab, an important necessity in managing your furni in the MP.

My Sales:

"But wait," you say, "I only JUST posted my furni item. Surely its not sold already?"

Well, that's a case by case basis. Sometimes that is actually the reality, which is why it's important to read over Step 3 of the furni entering process again. The My Sales tab shows all the furniture in which you have entered to the Marketplace. Here I have highlighted features of the My Sales tab, and explained their purpose below.

Please refer to the colours on the picture when reading the coloured keys (red, blue etc.,)

Blue: This shows the current price which is visible to other Habbo's who search for or come across your furniture. If your item is the cheapest unit of that particular furniture it will appear first. Your item will not show first if it is not the cheapest, however keep in mind it is not always good to undercut (placing an item in the Marketplace which is cheaper than the average or the cheapest unit to secure a sale), and you should put an item in for its recommended average unless the item is boosted or deflated. I will go over those two terms when we cover graphs.

Red: This shows how many hours and/or minutes are left before your item will be automatically removed from the Marketplace. This ties in with the Green box! (All furniture has a 48-hour timer).

Green: "Take back" is a button which allows you to remove the furniture from the Marketplace immediately given it has not sold. You may do this, otherwise, at any given time within the 48 hours. If it reaches the 48-hour limit your furni will be removed from the Marketplace, however, it will still be sitting in your My Sales tab, and you must remove it manually using this button.

Purple: This has to be everyone's favourite button! There's nothing like putting loads of furniture in the Marketplace and leaving it overnight, then coming back and seeing a hefty amount of coins in your favour. It is as simple as that. If your furniture sells the button will become usable, where the coins will instantly go to your purse.
-
Orange: This shows you how many furniture items you have in the MP. Useful if you've put in quite a lot and can't be bothered scrolling to count.

Now we have completely covered the My Sales tab. A tip I have from this point on regarding this tab would be:

- Remember that there is no 'remove all' button to take all of your expired offers out, so if you've got 65 ducks in the Marketplace for 20 credits each, don't expect to sell any and be prepared to have to take each one back. It's tedious work!

Ready to take a break now? We've still got lots to get through!

Offers:

The Offers tab is the hub for all furni entered into the Marketplace. There are three different search options; Activity, Value and Advanced.

By Activity: I don't know many Habbo's who use this tab often. It's more of a filler to get numbers or stats or see how certain furni are looking in terms of numbers and trade volume.

By Value: This is a tab good for finding the cheapest or most expensive furni currently on offer in the MP.

Advanced: The most useful tab out of the three, the Advanced search lets you search by name (or partial name - e.g. Dragon, which will bring up offers for all furni with 'Dragon' in their names.), price and with sort order options from both activity and value. This tab is extremely helpful when trying to compare pricing between LTD numbers, avoiding searching through thousands of items in the other tabs, and making the entire MP experience that little bit easier. The Advanced tab should be your new best friend, providing a simple way to find that Frost Dragon you wanted last week!

From here we will dissect the results, going through graphs and understanding what the spikes mean. If you haven't yet, I'd suggesting taking a much needed break from reading and stuffing yourself full of information like a thanksgiving Turkey! Go get a drink, go outside and play with the dog, then come back and devour more of this road to success style guide.

Welcome back! During your break I went ahead and searched up a Frost Dragon which will be the initial object of our journey down graph lane. Let's get straight into it..

Okay. I will explain what I've done: I've gone into advanced search and simply typed in dragon which has brought up all results for me in the MP. My sort order is Most expensive items first which means that the most expensive dragons will be shown at the top. Please remember that the cheapest unit of each furniture is still on show at the front. Read the Offers underneath the price which shows how many of each furniture is currently for sale.

The Average price in brackets is how much, on average, that particular item of furniture is going for. Most people will sell and buy at these prices! So use that to your advantage.

I've then scrolled down to Frost Dragon, and the next course of action is to press Item info. This will bring up your new worst enemy; the graphs.
"So why are you in a coat now, is that wand supposed to be a pointer?" You ask, "and what the heck is that robot thing and where can I get one?"

All good teachers require labcoats! The Robo Dino is a Super Rare, and you could have one for around 200 gold bars! Now, lets start with reading and drawing facts from the graphs. Let's start with the Price development graph, and I'll go over how the two actually work hand in hand.

Price Development: This graph shows you (during the last 30 days) how the furniture is sitting in terms of price. The Price development chart works by showing you spikes. Spikes are a good way to determine how and what has happened to the price. The how's: If the spike has dropped significantly at some stage along the graph line it is a surefire way to tell that the item had been deflated. A deflated item is an item which has had its average manipulated to make it appear like it is worth less than it really is. Habbo's may do this to snag items for a cheaper price, to ruin someones personal hoard or to benefit their own. We won't cover how to drop or increase averages in this guide.

Trade Volume: Trade volume shows you how many of this specific item have been sold during the last 30 days. If many have been sold, which in this Frost Dragon graph we can see that there has been, the Price development graph begins to make a lot more sense. You can see then, if you compare the two, that the trade volume is high and the up and down of the spikes from the Price graph correlates with that. It not only shows you that A) this item is traded quite commonly, or B) that this item has been deflated significantly at some point over the month, but that it may not be at its real price.

The current average of the Frost Dragon is 186 credits (c), however judging by the graph it may be worth a little bit more than that. In my opinion, the higher the trade volume the more realistic the value. In saying that, be cautious, as items with significant spikes in the price development chart are or have been obviously manipulated. Carefully observe graphs before buying expensive items to ensure you're getting a the item at a normal price, as opposed to a boosted item which the owner will happily have anyone paying double or triple for.

A couple of times I have mentioned boosted items. Boosted items are where a naughty Habbo has manipulated the MP average to be a lot higher than it should be. This can result in people being scammed or losing creds on furniture that is not worth the hype or buck. Here's an example of a not-so-trusty Elk, which is most definitely not worth the price it's advertised at.

In the red box we can see the spike which goes straight up. This kind of graph should be something you look out for, and if a furni item has this as their graph, stay well away! The price is unstable and uncertain and you won't have a good time. The blue box shows trade volume, in which we can see that someone who owns a few of the Elk has attempted to up the average again. Again, avoid furni with graphs like this. They just spell trouble!

This furni is a good example of eventual lowering. This isn't as bad as being lowered instantly, but you can see that someone or a group of people have been attempting to push this furniture down in price. The price difference isn't drastic enough to be told to steer clear, but by the graph you can most definitely tell that is what's going on. The spike at the end of the red graph shows that they may have been successful, however smarter Habbo's have pulled the item back up. Hopefully, judging by the trade volumes, this furni will be well on its way to getting back up to 80 or so coins.

I have now gone over all of the aspects of the Marketplace. I will now cover a few tips which have been shared by users from the Ultra Rare Trade Forum group, a group dedicated entirely to trading and values.

Tip 1: Look at the 30-day graph, it gives you a good indication of items that may be inflated / 'boosted' . the price as the average is not necessarily the real price of the furni.

Tip 2:  The higher the quantity of offers, the more likely the price is in line with the real price and not inflated.

Tip 3: Use the marketplace vs. redeeming GBS in a trade, it works out favourable to the buyer every single time and makes no difference to the seller.

Tip 4: You can't ever really go wrong with rare clothes releases. Take the Noble Crown or Fish Hat for example.

Tip 5: Be ware of hoarders. Hoarders are Habbo's who own a significant amount of a certain furni and will try to create the price of it because of that. If in doubt post a buying thread, but don't trust or take a hoarders word.

After reading all of this I'm sure you're full of info and rearing to get out there and make a go of it, but before you do-- here are some Habbo's who will be willing to help you in client if you have any questions regarding rares, furni, marketplace or trading in general.
