In the early hours of Tuesday morning, November 9th, Donald Trump passed the 270 electoral college votes he needed in order to be elected the next President of the United States.

In a turn of events that very few people expected, Trump gained the majority of the votes in the US election, up against Hillary Clinton. Many predicted that Clinton would be the next President, so many are shocked over the results.

Trump secured key swing states, such as Florida, which marked the way of his path to the White House. After the votes from Florida had been counted, his victory was clear.

When it was starting to lean in Trump's favour rather than Clinton, markets around the world plummetted as investors scrambled. Trumps threads to rip up a free trade agreement with Mexia, and tax money sent home by migrants to pay for building a wall on the southern US border, caused the peso to hit a record low.

In his victory speech, Trump pledged that he would be "president for all Americans", and that he was "reaching out" to the people who had not supported him to "unify the country", continuing to add "the forgotten men and women of our country will be forgotten no longer".

He added, "Now it's time to bind the wounds of division. I say to Democrats and Republicans it is time to come together as one united people".

What do you think about the result? Are you happy, or disappointed?
