Interview: Goodbye Pulx!

A short introduction into the history of Pulx as he began his journey with BaW:

Pulx was an assistant builder in season 8 under the leadership of Usul and started his leadership in January 2016. He was recognised by creating lots of rooms, sharing them on Twitter and was active in the creative building community globally. Eventually he was recommended and asked to be in BAW. Throughout Season 8, Pulx and Frission did a lot of the organising, writing and planning on behalf of Usul which gave them a strong connection and communication with staff. Through creative writing, building, video making and pushing a lot of ideas and such onto Waltz, Pulx was selected for his sheer interest and passion and it certainly paid off!

On July 1st a farewell party was held for Pulx as he stepped down as leader of BaW and handed the baton to Frission!

Hi Pulx, thank you for agreeing to do an interview with me! I have lots of questions to ask you! So let's get started!

How did it feel when you first became the leader of BaW?

In October after Season 8 - Waltz told me to "not go anywhere " "I have plans for you" she never told me at the time what that meant so I could only guess leadership. Later that year towards the end of Season 9 - I was officially emailed and asked to become leader. Of course it was strange and exciting at the same time, I knew that I had a lot to sort and change due to the reception of Usul. I tried my hardest and kept my passion high through, I hope it came across.

That's so exciting! How did you feel about leading your very first team?

Scary! Although I've always been a leader in different aspects of my life I didn't feel uncomfortable being in charge or out of my depth but it's definitely scary when you first have to manage a team and deliver on content hundreds of thousands of users will be playing.

Did it get easier along the way or was it like starting all over again when you had a new team?

Yes, so much easier but also so much more draining as the months go on!

What were your favourite campaigns?

Carnival of Love, Pirates vs Vikings, Super hero

Preview of one of Pulx's rooms during the Carnival of Love event (Rio Street Parade):

If you could recreate your dream team of builders, who would it be?

All of them at once!!

They would make some smashing rooms! If you can remember, what were some of your favourite dream rooms?

Ahh, this is difficult a lot of the entries were amazing but most of the winners were of course my favourites and the ones I eventually put forward to be in my teams. The opportunity to oversee competitions coming in and judging them was fantastic and enjoyable!

What was your favourite thing about being the BaW leader?

The creative freedom to express myself through creative writing, campaign making, script writing for live events, the building of course! Being able to watch and help my builders flourish over the course of their time.

Would you do it again if you could? If so, what would you change if anything?

would! But not right away - I think Pulx needs a holiday. I would adopt the way campaigns are being run now that I changed towards the end of my leadership at the beginning.

Do you think you will miss BaW or will it be a nice break?

As I said above it'll be great to have a break and have no commitments week on week inside the hotel but I'll miss it for sure, I've loved every second.

Will you still be involved in anything related to BaW in the future?

Yes! I'm working on sandbox on global campaign rooms and also a standalone campaign created by myself for Halloween which should be pretty unique and large scale. I will also be on hand to advice and help Frission along the way if need be!

What would you say the most rewarding aspect has been?

Being in close communication with the entire community staff team through email and the moderation team, being able to coordinate large scale and fun campaigns for users and finally, for my work over the 6 months granted work experience credit for future employment.

What have you learnt through this experience?

I think one of the most challenging aspects for me as a leader was badge making. At the start in season 10 I rarely touched badge making because my skills as a pixel artists were not exactly superb. As time went on, I got more and more comfortable to challenge and develop my skills at badge making and since then mostly all the badges of season 11 and 12 were created by myself.

What have you got planned for the future?

My plans for the future are to continue working closely with the creative community globally across all hotels with my fansite HabboCreate.

What would you say to Frission as she leads her first team through BaW?

I would say Jade, relax you're more than capable of doing this and don't panic! Enjoy the experience and make it your own. You have my full support and guidance whenever you need it.

What advice would you give to any aspiring builders out there in the Habbo community?

Keep building, sharing and challenging yourself. Pick all and start again - practice makes perfect!

So there we have it folks a sad goodbye to the great leader Pulx but a fabulous welcome to the new leader, Frission!
