It's that time of the year again! Doughnut day, which is always the first Friday in June.

Yes, doughnut can also be spelled as, "donut" for short.

This day actually has a history, relating to the past in relation to the Salvation Army.

Back in 1917, doughnuts were served during World War I to soliders by the ladies helping during the war., and they were a part of the Salvation Army.

To honor that, Salvation Army itself in the United States is giving out around 6,000 free donuts at D.C. metrorail stops!
