May is Mental Health Awareness Month !

This is a month to make awareness of mental health and mental illnesses. 

Many people every day, people you know and interact with, struggle with different types of mental illnesses and struggle throughout their lives. 

Raising awareness is a way to help those who struggle with mental health to let them know they are not alone and to be informative of the symptoms and endeavors that come with mental illnesses.

There are many different kinds of mental illnesses that are aside from depression and anxiety. 

Other mental illnesses include obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), schizophrenia, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), bipolar disorder, anorexia nervosa, insomnia, etc.  All illnesses need to be included for total awareness on the subject.

1 in 5 people deal with a mental illness on a day to day basis. Raising awareness is important because those who do not know how to deal with their struggles can be helped with by others, including those who have gone through similar situations. 

Anyone can contribute by spreading word of the month itself and making sure that everyone has someone to get by with, and being there for each other is a huge help.


When it comes to online occurrences, if someone is showing signs of depression, anxiety, stress, or any above listed illnesses, it is best to help and make sure that you as an individual is there for them and to make sure that no one is left alone through their struggles.  Most mental illnesses are treatable, and a lot do not get the help they need in order to be treated correctly and efficiently, which is why everyone needs to raise awareness.
